Battle Poker is a family friendly card game with up to four players battling against the clock to make the best five card hand possible.

 

Battles are played across multiple rounds with points scored for each round based on the quality of the hand. Each player uses a Wii Remote to point and click on a standard deck of cards laid across the screen. The first click flips the card over at which point it can be grabbed by anyone else. You've got to have fast fingers and eyes if you're to grab the cards you need before someone else snatches them from you.

 

How Battle Poker Hands are Scored

 

Battle Poker uses the traditional hand ranking used in poker to determine the hand value for all games in which Hand-Rated scoring is used. A hand is determined by the best possible combination using (up to) five cards.

 

In some game modes it is possible to choose less than five cards, and in those cases, Battle Poker will still score the best possible hand with the cards available.

 

Each hand type is represented by an icon as shown:

A High Card hand is a hand in which there are no matching cards and no more than 4 cards of the same suit/color. In this case, the highest card determines the rank.

      Pair

A Pair is made up of two cards with matching values, for instance, two 8s.

Two Pair is created when there are two sets of two cards with matching values, such as the two 8s and two 3s seen here.

      Three of a Kind

Three of a Kind is a hand which contains 3 cards of matching values, such as three 4s.

      Straight

A Straight is made up of five cards in consecutive order, but of different suits/colors, for instance, A-K-Q-J-T.

      Flush

A Flush contains cards which are all of the same suit/color, but not in sequence, for example A-J-T-5-2 of clubs/blue.

      Full House

A Full House is a hand that contains three cards of one value and two cards of a different value, for instance, three 9s and two 7s.

      Four of a Kind

Four of a Kind is a created with four cards all of the same value, such as four 5s.

      Straight Flush

A Straight Flush is a hand made up of five cards in sequence which are also of the same suit/color, for example, T-9-8-7-6 of spades/green.

      Royal Flush

The best possible hand, the Royal Flush, is made up the five cards A-K-Q-J-T of the same suit/color, such as diamonds/orange.

 

In games where Simple scoring is used, each hand is counted as a single point.
