It was a sunny day. Well, actually it was a string of sunny days in a summer that was perfect. Well, too perfect, it turns out. Because while school was out, and some families took road trips, and others barbequed in the balmy evenings of the best summer ever, something bad was happening. Actually, it was something catastrophic. A polymorphic virus had poly-ed or morphed or something like that. The point is that it turned sweet, harmless animals into raging, insatiable, flesh-eating terrors.

The mutated virus spread quickly, turning the best summer ever into potentially the last summer ever - or at least the worst summer ever.

Humans that were attacked by infected animals and survived fell into a deep sleep, and that’s never a good sign. People were afraid, and delicious, uninfected veal became really hard to find. Wine makers were really upset about that.

Fortunately, just when things were looking really bad, a nearly-genius biologist had his wife and son attacked and almost killed. That doesn’t seem like a good thing, but it really was because they both went into a deep sleep and that researcher, Alex, swore he would find a way to save them or die trying.

So, Alex blew his wife and son the most tender kiss he could muster given their infectious profile, then climbed into S.O.P.H.I.A., his exploration and assault vehicle. One way or another, he would use S.O.P.H.I.A. to save his family... and mankind.
