How to Hold the Controller
How to hold the controller depends on whether you are using the Wii Remote by itself or in combination with other accessories.
Note: Always refer to the instruction manual for each controller that you use.
Placing the Wii Balance Board
Make sure there is nothing around or above you, and position the Wii Balance Board so that there is at least 1 metre (3 feet) between your body (hands, feet, etc.) and other people or objects such as the television or other household objects during use.
Note: The Wii Balance Board is intended for people weighing no more than 150 kg (23 st 8 lb). The Wii Balance Board is sold in a package with Wii Fit™ software titles.

Playing using the Wii Balance Board
Follow the steps below to set up your Wii Balance Board for use.
If the Wii Balance Board is synchronised to your Wii console:
  • You can turn on the Wii Balance Board in the main menu.
If the Wii Balance Board is not synchronised to your Wii console:
  • When the screen on the right is displayed, please follow the procedure below.

  1. Wii Balance Board

    Console Wii
You will now need to carry out a Standard Mode synchronisation for the Wii Balance Board. Remove the battery cover on the underside of the Wii Balance Board and open the SD Card slot cover of the Wii console.
  2. When removing the battery cover, be careful not to drop the Wii Balance Board, or trap your fingers or hands in any way.
  3. Make sure the batteries are set properly in the Wii Balance Board.

  4. Wii Balance Board
Press on the Wii Balance Board. The Wii Balance Board’s Power LED will blink.

  5. Console Wii
Press on the Wii console while the Wii Balance Board’s Power LED is blinking. The Wii Balance Board’s Power LED will stop blinking once the Wii Balance Board has been synchronised with the Wii console.
IMPORTANT: Do not hold down on the Wii console for more than 10 seconds. This will erase the registration of all Wii Remotes that have been registered using Standard Mode synchronisation.
  6. Be sure to close the SD Card slot cover of the Wii console and replace the battery cover of the Wii Balance Board.
  1. Only one Wii Balance Board can be synchronised with a given Wii console using Standard Mode synchronisation and, including Wii Remotes, up to 10 controllers/accessories can be synchronised. If 11 or more Standard Mode synchronisations are performed, the oldest Wii Remote registration data will be deleted, but the Wii Balance Board data will not be deleted.
  2. Only one Wii console can register a Wii Balance Board using Standard Mode synchronisation. If a registered Wii Balance Board is then synchronised with another Wii console using Standard Mode synchronisation, the settings of the Wii Balance Board will be overwritten. To re-use it with the initial Wii console, it will be necessary to perform a Standard Mode synchronisation again.
  3. The Wii Balance Board will be connected as Player 4 (P4).
Note: If a Wii Remote is connected to P4, that Wii Remote will be disconnected.
Wearing the Wii Remote Wrist Strap
  1. Put your hand through the wrist strap and grasp the Wii Remote firmly.
  1. Adjust the strap lock so the strap does not come off your hand.
Note: If your strap lock has a lock lever, press the lock lever down until you hear a click. This will prevent the strap lock from loosening.
